Our story goes back to 2003, when Svetlana Klempner conceived the idea of turning her growing private practice into an academy, with all-round, rigorous music training. As she kept adding her new students to the long array of aspiring new musicians, the one-person-one-room initiative turned into a small musical enterprise with student body almost tripling in the past few years. One person’s enthusiasm was now picked up by several renowned professors who entered the school’s expanding faculty, and was carried forward in a joint effort to make it a joint success.Fortissimo Academy of Music and Arts is now offering courses in solfege, voice, guitar, violin, choir and much more.
Today our Academy is a not-profit organization, it boasts a spacious facility, fully equipped to satisfy the most exacting scholar, where multiple classes are taking place at the same time and students of all ages have the opportunity to explore all facets of music. Under the auspices of The City of Côte Saint-Luc our Academy is now entering into a new phase of development, where its success and prosperity are largely contingent on community, institutional and individual support.
In 2010 we became a member of the Conseil quebecois du loisir.
Each week the school opens its doors to over 200 students (from Côte Saint-Luc, Hampstead, WestMount, etc.) to participate in private lessons, group classes, ensembles, orchestras and choirs. Over the years we have grown to have an exceptional private instruction program, innovative early childhood development programs and stimulating group classes for the daring and aspiring, both young and old. We are proud to offer top-of-the-line instruction coupled with a caring, nurturing environment, leading to the mastery of an instrument and understanding of music literature. The school is committed to present the musical community with multiple recitals, class concerts, competitions etc., as well as a concluding annual concert at some of the best musical venues in Montreal.
Our goal for the future is twofold: to keep adding new and exciting programs to our ever-growing curriculum, and to officially launch a financial aid program. This will serve our mission to provide accessible music instruction to everyone in the community, regardless of their ability to pay.
